Have a kid that’s crazy for reading? How about a kid that doesn’t like to read at all? Check out our favorite reading app Epic! It’s the largest children’s digital reading library.  We have been using it for over a year now and it works well for both my kids. My daughter loves to read and finds a wide range of books from girly fiction to animal stories. My son doesn’t like to read at all, but he will read on the Epic App! on his iPad. He is drawn to the wide range of non-fiction available. In my opinion, it’s the best reading app out there! New users can enjoy 30 days of  unlimited reading for up to 4 different users by installing the here. Once the trial is over, the charge for Epic! is $7.99/month. You can cancel at any time. It’s also worth noting that Epic! is free for Elementary School Teachers and Librarians, click here for more details on that program!

As I mentioned, we have been using Epic! for about 18 months. It has thousands of titles to choose from for kids under 12. We started with a free trial for my kids. You set up the profile with your child’s age and interests, then Epic! offers recommendations based on the criteria.  When we first started reading, my now 6 year old was a very early reader.  She was pretty excited about the number of “Read to Me” books. These books are read aloud while your child follows along.  There are even regular audio books which are great for unwinding at bedtime.

My son is really into the non-fiction books about volcanoes, snakes and sharks!  In addition to a number popular books, there is also some content from Highlights, Sid the Science Kid, & the Magic School Bus. There are also audio books and both French & Spanish-language content (the French just launched last week).

Best Reading AppOne of the nicest things about Epic! is the ever evolving library. Seasonal and Holiday titles are highlighted. They even have themed selections for famous women and Women’s History Month! The addition of French and Spanish titles are great for dual language learners. You can check out some of the holiday titles below. (There is also a section for Winter Holidays Around the World)

favorite reading appEpic! is by far the best reading app I have come across! I highly recommend that you give the free trial a shot to see for yourself why it’s our favorite reading app!
